You will notice that these songs are sung in Neapolitan, a language spoken by 7,5 million people mainly in Southern Italy which is is closely related to Italian, but it has evolved its own unique characteristics like different pronunciation of certain consonants, a tendency to drop unstressed vowels at the end of words and unique verb conjugations. Neapolitan has a rich history and culture, especially in literature and song. It is considered a source of pride for its speakers.
