For this installment of memorias, we sat down with Gideon Broshy (composer, pianist, and producer from New York City) to talk about his debut album "Nest", out on New Amsterdam Records, the ideas and concept behind it, and how inspiring music can be, among other things. He also brought a selection of beautiful, interesting music that has informed and inspired his practice until now.
Gideon Broshy builds clouds and swarms from sharp figures, using improvisation, synthesis, and MIDI. His music attends to the strange and prolific seam between self and world — where people meet the social in a tangle of connections.
