Vagaries, Déjà vu trickling down the spine. Left doorway apparitions, harmless reminders up in smoke. I stopped smoking – just like that let it go. I picked it up again during the lockdown, like a pressure cooker. I never really needed it, like a pressure cooker (but it does cook beans faster). In any case I’ve convinced myself that I can drop any habit just like that (snaps fingers, sips tea, sighs). It could be true. There's some new habits I’m trying to start. Listening back to this show, savoring it. Spelling it out – there’s something there in the blends. Something in the pacing, makes it easier, something to drop the spoon to. Something to open the fridge to, and just stare in, wonder about the light and the world’s fastest little man living inside always there ...
