This month’s 42nd edition of my radio show, Display Resolution, is entirely
focused on the heritage of black club music from the United States, either
featuring black artists or in earnest appreciation thereof. I’m far, far from
the most relevant voice on this history or the labyrinthian scenes within, but
so much black dance music, especially Chicago house, disco and NYC techno has
resonated with me and provided much escape since my teens, both in and out of
clubs. The legacy and painful background in which this music has been created is
not a fresh revelation, but has been on my mind more than ever in recent weeks.
So, with respect and some very raw EQ-ing, this is my very minor tribute,
recorded live on a stuffy afternoon in Berlin, June 2020. Some of the records in
