CSC #25 "Growing Pains" with Crush and Georgette Polter 12.11.2023

What 'White Lotus' is to HBO, 'Growing Pains' is to CSC. For our 25th issue, we invited our friend Georgette Polter to meditate on that prison called heterosexuality. Endometriosis meets hormone pills, period sex meets the odor of dogs. Through Lisa Taddaeo's Three Women, Polter oscillates between regret and hopelessness, heterosexual desire and satisfaction, inherent uncertainty and the pain of growing (up). Asa Serisin reminds us that "Heteropessimism generally has a heavy focus on men as the root of the problem" which leaves us wondering about options for a prison break for our heterosexual sisters: celibacy? Political lesbianism? Sucking it (up)?
