This episode of https://www.instagram.com/larsfromearth/ is a mixtape of conscious music, touching on genres of afro reggae, hip hop, ragga and soca interspersed with vignettes from ’The London Record’, which in itself is a collage of field recordings, score and narration, portraying life in the capital. The London Record was first published in 1961, right at the end of Empire, when former colonies were declaring their independence left and right. I thought it would be an interesting side by side to have this image that London (Empire) wanted to put out into the world next to songs of liberation.
