I first stepped in to Cashmere Radio HQ in May 2016 to do a closed door pilot
session for the rather ‘fatigued’ founders - with a view to doing a regular show
there. Having just returned for East Africa at that time, I was heartened to
find a space in Berlin that was both warmly welcoming, and musically adventurous
- two things Berlin generally was not. Having left in 2012 the city had felt
rather boring musically - mono-thematic parties where the music would exist
safely within the strict genre boundaries of either house or techno for hours
and hour and hours on end. With my own recently expanded musical horizons, as
well as a clear surge in new and interesting sounds and parties in the city,
Cashmere became a nexus for the outsiders and fringe characters pushing exciting
music. I’m extremely proud to still be a part of this family.
