Art on Air #9 flashlight o, ‘sleep ache suite’ 11.07.2024

sleep ache suite is a collection of 9 works by Coco Klockner (under her performance/recording moniker flashlight o) originally commissioned for inclusion in Nile Koetting's 2022 Downtime Salon project for Musik Intallationen Nuernberg, an installation of improvised sleeping quarters set in the Steinbühl S-bahn station.

The collection riffs on motifs from some of the unsuspecting monoliths of background music (BGM) such as the repeating tone in Haruomi Hosono's 1984 album, Hana ni Mizu, that was originally commissioned by Muji--all while other otherwise spiraling into the looping headspace inherent to insomnia and the various mental states endured by the wakeful.
