Description
Mississippi is in many ways a hotspot for country blues. Most people will know
or have heard of the Delta blues, but this state is also home to another very
distinct style. North Mississippi Hill Country Blues places heavy emphasis on
maintaining a steady rhythm and groove characterized as 'hypnotic boogie'. There
are very few chord changes and steady riffs. Originating from the border region
of Tennessee, it remained very obscure up until the 90s when musicians, who were
already in their 60s and 70s, started signing to Fat Possum Records.
