Description
The west coast of the USA is associated with many things: sunny weather,
beaches, surfing. Rarely does Blues come to mind. The West Coast blues is
another one of those styles that arose due to musicians migrating to cities in
California from the south, predominantly from Texas. It was heavily influenced
by jump blues and jazz. Other characteristics include smooth, honey-toned
vocals, jazzy solos and emphasis on piano.
