Description
Glyn Phillips takes a look at new and forthcoming releases from around the world. There's a quite a concentration of Canadian artists on the show - from traditional Quebecois fiddlers and acapella groups to 'new-Canadians' with Cuban, Indo-Caledonian and Brazilian backgrounds creating interesting world fusions from their new home.
There's also music from Cuban giants, the Afro Cuban All Stars, Argentine electro-folk from Dat Garcia, a latin reworking of Prince's When Doves Cry and more avian connections with British Celtic Folk band, Roving Crows.
Other UK sounds come from VJs Addictive TV, jazzer Mark Lewandowski, afro-funk dubsters King Porter Stomp and Mediterranean klezmer funksters Hamsa. Cormac O Caoimh flies the flag for Ireland, Neotolia for Anatolian fusion, Joji Hirota for Japan and Yuly Tovar for Mexico. There is plenty of americana from The Bucking Mules and Carrie Elkin - and fabulous music from Nathaniel Braddock, The Polyversal Souls and Filastine & Nova!
