This is the first part of a three-part mini-series called Transatlantic Blues.

On this show - entitled “Transatlantic Blues 1” - I’ll be taking a look at Blues from both sides of the Atlantic - from Africa where it has its roots, over the States where it flowered and back again to different parts of the world where it has set seed.

It’s not a definitive look or list by any means - more of an impression - and I’ll also be including related genres such as funk, jazz, soul, RnB, bluegrass, zydeco, gospel and all kinds of fusions with flamenco, desert rock, Cuban rumba, FInnish folk and English folk. But hopefully it will all slowly seep into your subconscious and you’ll feel the connections across the years and across the ocean.
