Description
In this extra edition of WorldBeatUK, LATIN AMERICAN SPECIAL 2020, Brum Radio's resident world music aficionado and enthusiast goes into detail about a continent that he adores and Glyn endeavours to show some lesser known facets of this vast cultural region. There are Argentinians playing jazz, Mexicans playing tango and Brazilians playing soul, for instance.
We hear afro-cuban and afro-brazilian sacred music from the religions of Santería and Candomblé, there's milonga campera, danzón cubano, chorinho, candómbe, bolero, mpb contemporanea, afro-latin electronica and much more, all being renewed and revitalised by these contemporary artists, most from within Latin America, others from abroad.
All the musicians are real musicians, out there in the world right now, creating their art - as performers, composers, arrangers and in-the-flesh human beings.
Take a listen to some of the other voices and musical stories of those that live between the Rio Grande and the Straits of Magellan...
