Description
On this second - extra - edition of WorldBeatUK for July 2021, Glyn carries on picking through the new releases this year and takes a look ahead to some forthcoming albums too.
We get humpy and jumpy with music from Finland and Germany, psychedelic with new music from Berlin with a Turkish influence, from Moscow with a Siberian influence and from Cyprus, France and Switzerland with all manner of influences!
There's also Brazilian music, both new and reissued, gorgeous Franco-Brazilian vocals and the soundtrack to an 8 year old Cuban film. Africa is represented by one of its great songstresses as well as a large London-based Mande-jazz collective. There's folk from Tibet and the USA, as well as a collaboration between Canada and Iceland - and English Maritime folk from a bloke who lives nowhere near the sea!
Add to that Mexican Huapango Huasteco vocals, Indian Hindustani flute and Australian americana (it's a thing!) and you've got another unique WorldBeatUK!
