Description
Glyn Phillips presents two hours of world music from Africa, The Americas, The Caribbean and Europe, this week embroidered with a thread of jazz silk!
There are new releases from Jupiter & Okwess, Terrence Ngassa and Professor Wouassa alongside Zara McFarlane, Mayomi Moreno and Luis Frank. There's also some steaming jazz from Charlie Sepulveda in homage to Eddie Palmieri and from Hamilton de Holanda in homage to Milton Nascimento.
Glyn looks back at Cuban legends Irakere and Ruben Gonzalez and forward to Wildflower, Rio Mira and Makadem & Behr. Samuel Eagles investigates eternity, Adam Ben Ezra drops a pin, and Nik Barrell grows peaches in Oxfordshire whilst Viola da samba catch the 11am train and Jeremie Mignotte gets on the dancefloor.
Underhill Rose have got trouble on their minds, Steve Mayone's spotted a strange bird and there's even a jazz tango tribute to a rose-coloured cat with a magnifying glass.
And did I mention some rather British cha-cha-cha? Good Lord!
