Description
On this first show of 2021 Brum Radio's world music aficionado Glyn Philips shares a load of Brazilian releases from the likes of Emicida & Gilberto Gil, Luedji Luna, Tom Zé, Martinho da Vila and Diogo Nogueira - and Cuba's in the house too with the likes of Yamilé Cruz, Alfredito Valdés and Omara Portuondo!
We also philosophise with a French flautist, learn about medieval DJs with a group of Belgian folkies, check out the origins of South African mbaqanga, do carols and mid-winter tunes with British and Finnish artists, pay homage to Astor Piazzolla's centenary and visit the Uzbek and Tatar minorities of Western China, to name but a few!
As well as all that there's music from the Malawi, Niger, Senegal, Poland, Canada, Colombia and the UK. The British might currently be banned from visiting 50+ countries worldwide(!) but fear not, it's my job to bring the music to you!
Listen live first Monday of the month from 8pm on www.brumradio.com
