Description
Join Glyn Phillips on WorldBeatUK as he introduces the first NEW World Music releases of 2017!
"I've got Garifuna music from Honduras and a Balkan song from Serbia. There'll be Persian Flamenco Jazz fusion, Mancunian-Madrileño jazz, Colombian electroacoustic folklore, Cuban-New Orleans fusion, a whole slew of 1970s re-releases (afro-funk, prog-funk, Jamaican reggae, etc) and more Americana than you can shake a hillbilly at!
Add to that the music of an entire riverbasin from the longest river in the world (the Nile), an homage to the biggest river in the world (The Amazon) and a song from Madagascar (the country, not the film!) and you've got one hell of a show!
And why's it called First Degree Burns? Well on the 25th of January it's Burns Night (in honour of Scotland's national poet) - and I've got some incendiary music! But don't worry all you caledonophobes: WorldBeatUK is a bagpipe and haggis-free zone for this show!"
