The Overflow Show with Glyn Phillips No 18 (July 2020)

DJ Glyn Phillips brings you an eclectic show with the emphasis this time slightly tilted to the jazz & soul side! Carlos Santana's pianist/MD Dave K Matthews releases the 2nd of his Fantasy Vocal Sessions albums and there's two tracks by Canadian soul singer John Finley who has released his debut album in his 70s - well worth the wait! Another debut album as well - but on a jazz tip - from singer/landscape gardener Mayita Dinos and Botswanan jazz from the Trans Kalahari Quintet! We keep it in Africa with Nigeria's Etuk Ubong and Michael Olatuja and in the African diaspora from the UKs Carvalho, Zara McFarlane and Waaju, as well as the Haitian/Belgian collaboration of Chouk Bwa and the Ångstromers. There's Brazilian soul, Canadian bossa, San Franciscan bluegrass jazz, Argentine tango-infused danzón cubano, jazz noir from UK's Andy Morton and Israel's Hoodna, American reggae, Canadian midnight jazz, Chicagoan soul, music from Germany and Uruguay and even the Mario Bros (yes, those!).
