On this extra edition of The Overflow Show (#29) for June 2021, Glyn explores a whole slew of new Spring and early Summer releases just in jazz! There was just too much to fit into the usual 2 hour show with soul, funk, reggae etc, so this edition is an all-Jazz Special!
But even that's a very broad church as we take on artists from the USA, Brazil, Belgium, Belgium, Cuba, Canada, Catalunya, Italy, Germany and the UK. There's latin jazz, classic jazz, gypsy jazz, smooth jazz, hot jazz, cool jazz, folk jazz, world jazz, jazz funk, jazz fusion, NOLA-inspired jazz, 60s anthems-inspired jazz... enough of the labels: it's a whole heap of music! Sadly I have to report that one of the new albums I was already featuring, Plenitude by the Brazilian trombonist Raul de Souza, has turned out to be his unwitting swan-song since his recent demise earlier this month, just a few weeks after it's release. So, I'd like to dedicate this show to him.
