Description
On the Overflow Show No 24, Glyn serves up another plateful of new, recent and forthcoming releases. There's a highlight on the conscious lyrics coupled with smooth soul vocals of Chicago's Terry Blades' excellent album American Descendant of Slavery, including songs about being Black and gay in today's USA and a story about a trans-woman incarcerated in a male jail.
This edition features a lot of varied American and Canadian jazz, including amusing musings on Star Trek, the Beatles' Day Tripper and the reality of a Valentine's Day spent alone (lockdown, anyone?).
But there's also reggae and dub from Ghetto Priest, M'Dezoen, Havana Meets Kingston, Jugglerz & Pyramid, and the Gentleman's Dub Club ft Hollie Cook.
Finally Glyn sprinkles on some old latin salsa dura from Perú's Alfredo Linares, Romanian psychedelia, Afro-colombian and French/Kogi electronica, Mexican brass-hop, contemporary Ghanaian soul, Australian jazz and Estonian jazz pop and much more!
