Description
This month’s guest is Bill Dodds - a retired railway driver and keen cyclist from the North East of England, Bill took solace in music during the pandemic and has been dedicated to the craft of songwriting ever since, creating an enduring collection of heartwarming folk songs that form his debut album ‘Closer’
I met Bill when he attended a songwriting workshop I was running and was immediately drawn to his work, particularly his skill for story telling in song and it’s been a great pleasure to work with him in recent years mentoring at first online and then producing his album, recording him live in his living room in Gosforth, a room with interesting acoustics and the place `Bill felt most comfortable.
He lives in his beloved native Newcastle Upon Tyne, where he spent 34 years working as a railway driver and 20 of those he was also an elected local government councillor on Newcastle City Council - ‘Closer’ A record rich in romance, reflection and stories.
