Description
Entering Susie's speakeasy this week is Joe Khalique-Brown, Birmingham-raised "Bedroom-Britpop" artist. They discuss his debut EP 'Four Leaf Clover' which features former Brum Radio Track of the Week, 'Lola'. Susie is also treated to an exclusive listen to Joe's newest, unreleased track 'The Getaway' at the end of the show.
This week Susie is also joined by Derek Redmond, former British Olympian who was favoured to medal in the 400m race at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, before a hamstring injury forced him to pull up during the semi-final. Redmond's father Jim made his way onto the track to help him continue. Just before the finish, Jim let go of his son and Derek completed the course on his own, prompting the crowd of 65,000 to give him a standing ovation. Derek Redmond recounts this iconic moment in Olympic history, to warn others who may be inspired by the 2024 Paris Olympics to stay safe when trying a new sport for the first time this summer.
