‘Planet Earth About To Be Recycled’ is a 55 minute sound collage that uses video recordings of cult leader Marsall Applewhite’s teaching sessions. Applewhite led Heaven's Gate, an American UFO religious cult founded in the early 1970s. On March 26, 1997, police discovered the bodies of 39 members of the group who had committed mass suicide in order to reach what they believed was an extraterrestrial spacecraft following Comet Hale–Bopp.
The piece features music from Amanda Lear, Donny Hathaway, Japan and Alaska Thunderfuck.
