Paul Elwell
I was born the youngest of 18 children in a cave on the Wren’s Nest. We lived on water from dewponds, newts and fumes from the local pork scratching foundry. At the age of six I was sold to the youngest daughter of the duke and duchess of Lower Gornal for sixpence It was here that I was befriended by Beryl, the pig-keeper’s daughter, who introduced me to many things, including poetry.
