The current fascination with mega line ups and 20 minute festival sets means that a form of DJing is in danger of dying out, and that is the art of the warm up set.
Warm up DJs were the unsung heroes of clubland for decades, these were the guys who were responsible for creating the vibe for the night and the ones who would entice you onto the dance floor first and get you warmed up.
These guys were the ones who had to walk in and out of the club with four or five recordboxes, rather than one, and would play for anywhere between two and four hours building things up for the headliners. As they were on before the headliners, they couldn't just play the 'bangers' and had to dig deep and find new music or forgotten classics; these warm up DJs were the guys who gave first plays to what were to become the future anthems.
I have created this set to show the journey that a warm up DJ would take you on, it's a journey through house music old and new that gradually builds over four hours
