It was the tenth night of The Idiot Tour, for which David Bowie played keyboards. The other band members were Ricky Gardiner on guitar, Tony Sales on bass guitar, and Hunt Sales on drums. The tour opened in Aylesbury on 1 March 1977. Blondie was the support act for the North American shows.Also on the same day March 18th 1977, Iggy Pop released ‘The Idiot’. Produced by David Bowie, the album followed the break-up of Iggy Pop's band the Stooges in 1974 and a period of drug addiction for both Pop and Bowie, after which the two moved to Europe in an effort to kick their addictions.
