Description
Bowie performed at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on 8 September 2005.It was part of the Condé Nast’s Fashion Rocks event, with all proceeds donated to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund in New Orleans. This was Bowie’s first live appearance since his heart operation. The set began with Bowie performing ‘Life On Mars?’, backed with Mike Garson on piano. Arcade Fire then came on stage to back Bowie on ‘Five Years’, before the two acts played the Arcade Fire song ‘Wake Up’.The three songs were subsequently released as digital downloads on iTunes, again to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The full set of three songs was released a week later, on 21 November, with ‘Five Years’ and ‘Wake Up’ swapped around in the running order. The Live EP (Live At Fashion Rocks) topped the iTunes charts in several countries, and made number three in the US, and number five in the UK.
