Like most heroes of modern music, David Bowie performed several times on BBC Two's long-running music show Later... with Jools Holland, appearing first in 1995. This first appearance of Bowie on Later... is taken from the sixth series and an episode which also featured Oasis, then at the height of their Britpop powers. He performed two tracks from his concept album, Outside, including Hallo Spaceboy, written with producer Brian Eno. He also had a quick chat at the piano with Jools and discussed writing lyrics for the album by feeding words and snippets into a computer and then randomising them.
