Black Tie White Noise is the 18th studio album by Bowie,released on 5 April 1993 & was conceived following the disbandment of Bowie's rock band Tin Machine & his marriage to Iman,production handled by Bowie & Nile Rodgers,who previously co-produced 1983's Let's Dance.The record features numerous guest appearances,including pianist Mike Garson & guitarist Mick Ronson.Inspired to write the title track after witnessing the 92 L.A. riots,is primarily separated into the themes of racial harmony & Bowie's marriage to Iman.It features a wide variety of musical styles,from art rock,electronic & soul,jazz,pop & hiphop influences.It also contains multiple instrumentals & cover versions.Released amidst the rise of Britpop in the UK,initially received favourable reviews from music critics.Some considered it Bowie's best work since Scary Monsters.It debuted at number 1 on the UK Chart,with each of its 3 singles reaching the UK top 40.
