Rather than a typical BAOL show the music in this weeks show was selected in response to the murder of George Floyd.
Steve: "Our record shelves would be empty were it not for the music of black musicians. Not only for their music but for all of the musicians they inspired. BAOL stand alongside our colleagues on 1BTN this week and always. There is no place for racism and there can never be an excuse for it.
"As a teenager I was obsessed with hip hop. Through Public Enemy, NWA, X-Clan, KRS-One and many others I absorbed a history that hadn't been taught at school (and still isn't). Standing up, taking a knee, educating oneself - these are all ways of demonstrating that enough is enough. The Civil Rights marches were 60 years ago. How is it possible that progress is still so slow?"
The songs in this show reflect the black experience and are performed by black musicians.
